Welcome to the new ELEPHANTSQUARED! It took us a while to conclude to the final design of the new ES and there is still some work to be done. However I decided to turn the switch and share this new design we did especially for ES. Over the next couple of days or weeks there will be some minor interface lifting in various sections like the comments section. Every href should be working by now but don’t hesitate to contact us in case you notice a bug or something that doesn’t fit in.

Nexus One: The Story

If you are into mobiles, gadgets and all the latest tech going on out there (especially Android), it’s almost inevitable you didn’t notice these series of short films, that came out lately, documenting the making of Nexus One. They are split up in five parts, each one containing a bit of the life cycle of a Nexus One ranging from basic concept and design details to everyday using of this superphone. The five parts can be summarized to this:

Episode 1: Concept & Design
Episode 2: Display & 3D Framework
Episode 3: Testing
Episode 4: Manufacturing
Episode 5: Day One

All of them are brilliant! Here one of my favorites, that is Testing. Enjoy!

YouTube, HTML5 and the new intriguing Video Page

In case you live in another planet than Earth, YouTube is experimenting with some changes that will shape the future of the way we experience on-line video. First and foremost, HTML5.

-”Just hold on a minute..”, you might say. “Isn’t that the new..?”
-Yes, it is.
-”But is this backwards compatible with my old-dusty-and-almost-gone-forever Internet Explorer 6?”

Nop, is the answer. Well, the truth is YouTube hasn’t switched over using the new tag of HTML5 permanently, but you can have a sneak peek on what YouTube would look like riding the Horse 5 (==HTML5). You can opt in by visiting youtube.com/html5. You should give it a try.

Apart from that, YouTube is trying out an experimental re-design of the Video Page, which, in my opinion, was about time! Take a look at this example over here. How does it feel?
